Tom's City Leadership Experience

Tom Padgett is currently a member of the Sioux City Council and serves as Mayor Pro Tem. He previously served as a City Council member for two terms and was Mayor from 1998 to 2000. He is a former member of the Sioux City School District’s Board of Directors and has held numerous volunteer positions in the community.

As a member of the Legislative Policy Committee of the Iowa League of Cities and the Public Safety Committee of the National League of Cities, Tom has brought state and national recognition to Sioux City.

During his ten year tenure on City Council, Tom has been involved in numerous significant city projects:

Taxes
• Lowering of rates for residential and commercial property

Infrastructure
• Perry Creek Flood Control
• Remodeling Waste Water Treatment Plant
• Outer Drive Extension

Public Safety
• Three new fire stations
• Hazmat Team
• Methamphetamine Training Center
• Expansion of Community Policing

• New Museum
• Art Center
• Orpheum Theater

Economic Development
• Restoration of Morrell site and expansion of Global Foods
• IDFI fabricators
• American Pop Corn Expansion
